Despite being originally written for Microsoft Windows, Password Safe is now available for a variety of operating systems. Compatible clients are available for FreeBSD, Linux, Android, IOS, BlackBerry and others. While most password managers are limited to supporting only one or two operating systems, some do support a wide range of platforms. The software even supports Mac OS X. We tested it on Mac OS X and were very pleased with its ease of use and functionality.
Once you've installed Password Gorilla, the application will launch and open the password database for you. On the main interface, click Add/Edit to enter the login information for your sites. You can also access this information through the context menu in any web browser. You can see your username and password in plain text if you need to. You can also export the database to a CSV file. You can also store passwords in cloud storage services like Dropbox.
To use Password Gorilla, simply choose the password database you want to use. The application will then ask you for a master password for this database. This will prevent someone else from copying it or attempting to brute-force the master password offline. When you've finished adding the entries, click Add/Edit. You can then save and continue browsing. There's no need to close the application when it's closed.
